The February 2025 PlayStation State of Play wasn’t just another gaming event — it was awesome as Sony has announced tons of games (some of which we even didn’t expect to see). From the moment the stream began, the reveals came fast and furious.  


First  up was Housemarque’s Saros, a mind-bending sci-fi adventure before franchise titans  like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Borderlands 4 shook the gaming community. There  were some great unexpected gems like Days Gone Remastered, a revamped Onimusha, and a new Shinobi game to make this more than just another presentation.  From trophy hunter to casual  PS5 players, this showcase had something for everybody. We’re breaking down the world-changing announcements that’ll  define gaming in 2025 so you can see what you have to look forward to.

Saros: The Sci-Fi Game We’ve Been Most Excited to See at State of Play 2025 Reveal

The February 2025 State of Play event dropped Saros, an exclusive PlayStation game that entirely  redefines gaming experiences. This Sony State of Play announcement is a revolutionary sci-fi adventure from  Housemarque that continues their tradition of great PlayStation games.  In Saros, you play as Arjun  Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer on the mysterious planet Carcosa at the time of a  catastrophic eclipse. Every playthrough of this PS5 game is different thanks to its innovative gameplay system.

Saros


Metal Gear Solid  Delta: Snake Eater - Release Date Confirmed


  • Platforms: PlayStation 5

  • Release Date: August 28, 2025


The most recent PlayStation showcase was a huge  deal for stealth game fans after revealing the release date of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.  This complete remake turns the classic Metal Gear Solid 3 into an advanced game that stays faithful to  the first while showcasing everything the PS5 can do.

Metal Gear Solid  Delta: Snake Eater


Borderlands  4:  One of the most anticipated game reveals of this year

  • Release Date: September 23, 2025 release confirmed


Looper-shooter fans got an electrifying  announcement in February’s State of Play when Borderlands 4 was fully revealed. The new entry  in the popular franchise promises to advance the cooperative gameplay and over-the-top action that the series is famous  for.  On the planet Kairos, players will fight against the corrupt Timekeeper while navigating a  world of mechanical monstrosities, bloodthirsty bandits, and bizarre creatures. The  trailer revealed new Vault Hunters with fresh powers to show the same chaotic, loot-focused gameplay that Borderlands  is famous for.

Borderlands 4


Onimusha: Way of the Sword New Trailer Reveals New Gamepaly and  Protagonist

  • Release Date: 2026


The release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been pushed back  to 2026, but Capcom offered fans a brief preview during the PlayStation State of Play event.  The new gameplay trailer introduces the game's legendary hero Miyamoto Musashi, one of Japan's most  famous swordsman in real life, in stunning detail and with some impressive combat moves.

Tides of Annihilation: Unexpectedly Drops in PlayStation State of Play 2025

  • State of Play Reveal: It has been confirmed that it  will be released in the future


The most unexpected game of the Sony State of Play event  this year was Tides of Annihilation, a single-player action-adventure game with a great story  that could change the way we look at gaming. Set in modern London which has been invaded by supernatural  forces, the game introduces the player to Gwendolyn, the main protagonist who finds herself in  the midst of a fight for her life.

Tides of Annihilation


Days Gone Remastered: The PS5 version of Days Gone will come out on  April 25, 2025, with new features

  • Release Date: April 25, 2025


The PS5 version includes VRR and  PS5 Pro support, new modes like permadeath and speedrun, improved photo mode, and  more accessibility features.

Days Gone Remastered


MindsEye: This is a new sci-fi thriller from Leslie Benzies, the former lead GTA developer


  • Platforms: Likely PlayStation 5

  • Release Window:  Summer 2025


MindsEye is a new action game developed by the former lead GTA developer, Leslie  Benzies, and it was shown during the State of Play event. The game follows the story of Jacob  Diaz, a soldier with a mysterious neural implant and memory problems, as he tries to find out what  actually happened during a covert mission in Redrock.

MindsEye


Warriors: Abyss - A new type of Dynasty Warriors game: Roguelike

The  new game, Warriors: Abyss, is a roguelite spin-off of Dynasty Warriors and will be  released on PS5 and PS4 at the same time. The game is a traditional 1  vs. 1,000 action game with new roguelike features that provide the player with  never-before-seen gameplay options.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - The Multiverse Racing Game Revealed at State of  Play

Stellar Blade: Nikke Crossover and PC Expansion Revealed

PlayStation State of Play presented some  exciting new additions to Stellar Blade including the crossover with Goddess of Victory: Nikke. The June  2025 update will add a limited time boss fight, new costumes, doll figures, and more content  that will enrich the game's story.

Lies of P:  Overture - Delving into the Hidden Past of Krat

The universe of Lies of P is  set to grow with the release of Overture, a prequel DLC that explores the stories of  Krat that have not been told yet. The events that lead up to the big Puppet Frenzy  are revealed, and players will gain more understanding of the dark world that is presented in the game.

WWE 2K25: How The Island Transformed the Social Wrestling Experience

Split Fiction: A Story-Driven Narrative Game Is Getting Ready To Launch
