PlayStation Plus April 2025 Free Games Lineup

Post Image

PS Plus subscribers can visit Old Detroit, survive a Texas nightmare, and dive into the Digital World next month.

Sony has revealed its PlayStation Plus Essential lineup for April 2025, bringing three distinct gaming experiences to subscribers. Starting April 1st, members can add RoboCop: Rogue City (PS5), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (PS4/PS5), and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory (PS4) to their digital libraries at no additional cost.

This diverse selection offers something for fans of different genres – a single-player sci-fi FPS, an asymmetrical multiplayer horror title, and a deep monster-collecting JRPG. These titles will remain available to claim until May 5th, when they'll be replaced by the next month's offerings.

PlayStation Plus April 2025 Games Lineup

RoboCop: Rogue City

  • Genre: First-Person Shooter

  • Developer: Teyon

  • Publisher: Nacon

Teyon's first-person shooter puts players behind the visor of Detroit's mechanized law enforcer. As Alex Murphy, you'll patrol the crime-riddled streets of Old Detroit, investigating cases and dispensing justice with your Auto-9 pistol. The gameplay blends investigation segments with hard-hitting combat where you can ricochet bullets off surfaces and bulldoze through enemies with RoboCop's iconic weight and presence.

The game features a campaign spanning roughly 15 hours, side missions that flesh out the world, an upgradeable arsenal including the signature Auto-9, and a skill tree to enhance Murphy's capabilities. January's update added New Game Plus mode, giving players reason to revisit Detroit after completing the main story.

RoboCop: Rogue City

Trophy hunters will find it as easy platina journey:

  • Difficulty: 3/10

  • Estimated Time: 10-20 hours

  • Missable Trophies: None

The path to platinum requires completing the game on the hardest difficulty setting, finding all collectibles scattered across Detroit, and mastering RoboCop's various abilities. Combat can be unforgiving at times, particularly during boss encounters, but the game's checkpoint system prevents too much frustration. Most players will need at least 1.5 playthroughs since some trophies are tied to story decisions and difficulty levels. The January update adding New Game Plus makes this process more enjoyable by letting you carry over your upgrades to a second run.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

  • Genre: Asymmetrical Multiplayer Horror

  • Developer: Sumo Digital

  • Publisher: Gun Media

Sumo Digital brings the iconic horror franchise to life in this asymmetrical multiplayer game. Players either control survivors attempting to escape the Slaughter Family's property or take on the roles of the infamous killers, including Leatherface himself. Each match creates a tense game of cat and mouse as survivors use stealth and teamwork while killers coordinate to track and eliminate their prey.

The game features multiple maps based on iconic locations from the films, including the Family House and Gas Station. Each survivor and killer has unique abilities and attributes, with a progression system that unlocks new perks, skills, and cosmetic options. Regular content updates have added new characters, maps, and gameplay balancing since launch.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (PS4, PS5)

For trophy enthusiasts, this multiplayer horror title offers a moderate challenge:

  • Difficulty: 4/10

  • Estimated Time: 60-80 hours

  • Missable Trophies: Several dependent on online activity

The platinum journey requires mastering both sides of the asymmetrical gameplay. You'll need to win matches with every family member and survivor character, perform specific actions in matches (like chainsawing multiple victims in one game), and grind through hundreds of matches to reach high experience levels. The most challenging trophies involve coordinated scenarios that may require boosting with friends, such as escaping as the last survivor or eliminating all survivors within a specific time limit. Server population will be crucial for this platinum, making the PS Plus release an ideal time to attempt it while the community is active.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory

  • Genre: Turn-Based JRPG

  • Developer: Media Vision

  • Publisher: Bandai Namco

Media Vision's turn-based JRPG follows Keisuke Amazawa, a young man falsely accused of a crime who joins a hacker group to clear his name. Players explore both the real world and the Digital World, collecting and training Digimon to battle through a story that runs parallel to the events of the original Cyber Sleuth game.

The core gameplay revolves around turn-based battles with a team of up to three Digimon, featuring a combat system that emphasizes elemental strengths and weaknesses. With over 320 unique Digimon to collect, each with multiple evolution paths, the monster-raising mechanics offer tremendous depth. The main story campaign spans approximately 40 hours, with side quests, optional dungeons, and post-game content pushing total playtime well beyond that.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory (PS4, PS5)

Trophy collectors face the most demanding platinum of April's PS Plus lineup:

  • Difficulty: 4/10

  • Estimated Time: 40-60 hours

  • Missable Trophies: Few, mostly related to special Digimon

The platinum journey centers around completing the massive Digimon Field Guide with all 320+ creatures, which involves complex evolution chains, fusion requirements, and some rare encounters. You'll need to engage with virtually every system in the game, from winning hundreds of battles to maximizing ABI stats for multiple Digimon. The good news is that the trophy list encourages natural exploration of the game's depth rather than arbitrary challenges. While time-consuming, most requirements align with the core gameplay loop that JRPG fans will enjoy. Patient collectors will find this a marathon well worth running, especially for Digimon enthusiasts.

PlayStation Plus: April vs. March 2025 Comparison

As RoboCop, Leatherface, and Agumon make their way onto PlayStation consoles next week, players should make sure to download the March 2025 titles while they still have the chance. It was a particularly strong lineup that included Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection – with the latter essentially offering six games in one package.

April's PlayStation Plus lineup has a little something for everyone, providing more genre variety than March's offerings. Between RoboCop's single-player campaign, Texas Chain Saw Massacre's multiplayer frights, and Digimon's lengthy JRPG adventure, subscribers are getting a solid mix of experiences. While perhaps not matching March in terms of raw quantity, the quality and diversity here shouldn't be overlooked.

If you're a subscriber or a non-subscriber who has been looking for a good opportunity to sign up, make sure to add all three of March's games to your library before the offer goes away March 31st.
